In this beginners’ sewing machine workshop I go through all the workings of a modern day machine. You will learn how to safely set up the machine, identify its main parts, thread the machine and wind the bobbin, adjust basic settings and sew straight and curved lines. 

The workshop also covers basic troubleshooting, machine care and essential sewing techniques whilst practising on sample  fabrics.

If you have a sewing machine that you don’t  know how to use, bring it along!  

This class can accommodate two people so if you would like to do this with a friend let me know.

3hrs - £75

If you have some basic sewing machine knowledge why not try one of my workshops

On this sewing for beginners simple tote bag workshop I will take you through the steps to create your own bag.

During this relaxed one to one session you will:

• Learn to measure and cut fabric accurately
• Sew straight seams
• Create handles 
• Press your work
• Create French seams for a professional finish 

On the day there is a choice of quality fabrics to choose from and you will take home your bag and written instructions to continue to make bags in your own fabric and time.

This class can accommodate two people so if you would like to do this with a friend let me know.

3hrs - £75

On the second of my beginners workshops you can learn to make a simple envelope back cushion. These are super easy to make and very addictive!

During this relaxed one to one session you will:

• Learn to measure and cut fabric accurately 
• Sew straight seams and finish accordingly 
• Learn to turn down/create a hem and stitch
• Use a 1/4” sewing foot 
• Construct the envelope back 
• Press work professionally

There is a choice of 3 fabrics to choose from the Farmland Fancy quilting cotton range. Also Included is the cushion inner so that at the end of the class you will leave with your very own cushion. 

You will also receive the written instructions.

4hrs - £90

Would you like to try your hand at quilting?

Basic, confident sewing skills are required but quilting is a mesmerising process and very addictive!

During this session you will:

• Learn how to create the quilted effect by stitching accurate lines
• Measure, cut and stitch a 6 piece sample block
• Create a quilt sandwich by layering a top fabric, batting 

and backing fabric

• How to secure the  layers suitable to quilt
• How to draw or map out quilting lines
• How to attach and use the quilting foot 
• Suggestions of  how to take your sampling skills to the next level of quilting projects
